When it comes to top-level Christian music acts coming through, central Iowa often experiences months-long dry spells. But as they say, when it rains, it pours.
In the next week, we’ll have the opportunity to take in some of the biggest bands in the industry (videos below).
First up is Winter Jam on Friday, March 28. The annual tour is headlined by the Newsboys, Tenth Avenue North, and a BCC favorite, LECRAE! Wells Fargo Arena in Des Moines will host the event. No tickets required; cost is $10 at the door. Doors open at 6:00pm, but you might want to get in line before then. The arena will fill up fast for this popular event.
Royal Tailor is another of our favorite bands coming soon. They got Winter Jam started with a bang last year, but this year, they’re headlining their own show in Waukee on Thursday, April 3. Lead singer Tauren Wells will impress not only with his smooth vocals and dance moves, but also with a genuine heart for God and young people. Tickets start at $13.50 and are available online. This is a concert I would definitely want to take my kids to if it weren’t for…
Gungor playing in Des Moines on the same night! Seriously, how did this happen? Gungor (“Beautiful Things,” “Earth Is Yours”) features extremely talented musicians and creative songwriting. Though their latest album branches out beyond the Christian genre, a deep faith and longing for God comes through in their songs. This is not the one to take your kids to, but for young adults, I guarantee it will be an unforgettable night. Held at Wooly’s in the East Village, tickets are still available starting at $16.
